Hi. I've been gone in weebly for so long but I'm back creating many posts for you guys. If your learning in my website I will post some more. Here's one about Leonardo Da Vinci.
Leonardo's childhood
Leonardo was born on April 15,1452 and he was born in a village near Vinci, Italy. Leonardo's years were unstable because his mother never married his father. Being poor, he was sent to his wealthy father. For awhile he lived with his grandparents and spent time with an uncle who dearly cared for him. Despite the ups and downs of moving around, Leonardo was charming and attractive in every way, according to what those who knew him have written. A friend of his named Vasari wrote, "The radiance of his countenance, which was splendidly beautiful, brought cheerfulness to the hear of the most melancholy."
Leonardo was also a bright kid. In school he was very good in Math and Music. With intense curiosity, he always draw something with great details. Supposedly, when he was just a boy, Leonardo brought dead lizards, toads, and snakes into his house as models for his art and he was so focused on his art with great detail that he didn't noticed the rotten smell of his models as decayed!
A life in Florence
Leonardo's father wants to expose him to much more better opportunities and eventually moved him to Florence. Now Florence is good place for young painters, sculptors, and other brilliant minded people. So that is the place is where you can look for opportunities. When Leonardo was 15 years old, his father arranged for him an apprentice in the shop of Andrea del Verrocchio (Vair rawk kyoh). Andrea was a master goldsmith, painter, and sculptor. As in the medieval times, an apprentice is someone who learned a trade under a master. Instead of getting paid he was given food and lodging for learning a trade. This arrangement was good between the two because the arrangement lasted for 13 years.
Though it may or may not be true, an interesting story has been passed down about Verrocchio. It seems that Leonardo was about 18 when he was asked by his master to paint one angel of the two angels (his painting is in the left) in the Baptism of Jesus. The painting was better than his master that Verrocchio said he would not paint again. Whether he did make this statement or not, I think Verrocchio realized that his finest pupil will surpass him and the truth is, he did.
While in Florence, Leonardo painted something peculiar that began to reflect the mind of this genius. Leonardo began a scene titled The Adoration of the Magi. In it, the artist experimented with breaking the rules of perspective."Perspective" in art is the science of making objects appear their real size. A good example of this drawing things smaller when they are far away because that is how our eyes see them. Well, Leonardo enjoyed playing mind games with perspective. In The Adoration of the Magi, he drew stairs that lead to nowhere, horses larger than life, and the mother of Jesus as if she were suspended in time and space. In awe of her Son, she appears unaware of all kinds of chaos around her. He is a genius. He wrote and filled 7000 pages of endless drawings, sketches, and notes. Incidentally, his notes were all written backward from left to right! It may be that it was easier to write this way because he was a lefty. (Moving his hand from right to left prevented him from smudging the ink) Or it may be his "mirror- Image" hand writing helped protect his notes from being read and stolen. He predicted many machines and other things.
This is all because he had diligence to study and learn but without wisdom how can he use diligence if he has no wisdom that is why he studied and learned then he learned more talents than his master. Like Solomon asked for wisdom not riches.
