Sharjah museums offer different programmes for families, adults and people with disabilities. From October to November, they aimed to raise awareness of ways we can protect our environment. One of the workshops we attended is the "Mangrove Plants" held at Sharjah Aquarium. They orient the participants about these plants and how they can be preserved. My sister joined a friendly competition and she won one bronze medal. I did not participate yet because I am still in the advance team. I practice every Sunday and Tuesday at 4-5 pm. Next time I will be competing also so I need to practice more and discipline myself. Josiah and Yannah participated in Sharjah Aquarium's "Your Sea Artwork" programme last December 26, 2013. They helped clean up Al Khan beach and use whatever waste materials they picked up to create a unique artwork. I created this sign so I will remember the dark ages. During the dark ages there were many that don't know how to read so the stores drew in the signs so many people will know what is in the shop. To be a master merchant or craftsman, first, the kid will be trained as an apprentice then becomes a journeyman. An apprentice is like a student in college. He gets training but not get paid. When he is promoted as a journeyman he gets paid and can set up his own store. If he becomes successful he becomes master of his trade. This is a poem by an unknown author. it is about Grendel, Grendel's mother, Beowulf, and a dragon. Some say this poem is real and some say this poem is not real. Grendel was a hideous creature that ate 30 men in a dinning hall in Denmark. Beowulf is a warrior that lives in the sea in southern Sweden. Upon hearing the message he was convinced to fight Grendel. Beowulf found Grendel and challenge him to fight! Beowulf ripped off Grendel's arm and went home bleeding to death but Grendel is only a child so his mom fought Beowulf but Beowulf won the battle as well! It was a glorious victory and he was honored by the people too!!! Beowulf was a glorious warrior that fought Grendel and his mother now he must fight a fire breathing dragon. He slayed the dragon but he also died because of a fatal wound in his throat caused by the dragon. This poem tells us that people, beast and dragons roamed the earth together as we know from the creation story in Genesis. I am very creative with clay, Lego, Minecraft and other stuff like that. Here, I molded a titanic ship, elephant, flower, and iceberg clay. My dad is also creative and being creative is so fun! The reason why love creating things and helping my dad is because I want to be the most creative man that ever lived and I always wish that would happen. I am diligent and also patient that is why I am being creative. If you want to be creative you must have patience and diligence. In Civics, I learned that Filipinos are creative and resourceful. I learn in character that you must be patient and diligent so you can be creative. Patrick was born in England. His parents were strong Christians and his father was a deacon and his grandfather was a great pastor. Patrick was a very bad boy because he is playing in the beach rather than going to church. One day when Patrick went to the rocky shores he was kidnapped by Irish pirates and he was only 16 years old when that happened!!! Patrick was sold as a slave in Ireland and sold to other Irish people and sent to slavery. That is his consequence. Patrick was in slavery for 6 years and his job was taking care of pigs like the parable of the lost son. There in the slavery he began to be a Christian. He learned how to pray, know God, and followed Him. Then Patrick escaped. He ran 200 miles away to a ship and the captain granted him to aboard the ship as a dog keeper. The ship had stopped to France for supplies and then to England. Then he was very happy to see his parents. While he was sleeping he is hearing children singing and saying " Come back come back. " Then he went back to Ireland. He shared the gospel, taught the Irish to believe in God and not to fairies and pixies. Patrick was being merciful to the Irish people even though they put him in slavery. We all have second chance because God is a God of second chances. Patrick used the three-leaf shamrock to explain the trinity. He was successful in sharing the gospel because he knows the language and the culture of the Irish people from 6 years of slavery. My dad made me an ATM machine from a big box of carton. I pretended that I am the ATM machine while my mom and my dad transacts. They do withdrawals and deposits.
My ATM machine looks like a real ATM machine. There is a door on the side, holes for pin number and words like "Ok' and "CANCEL". The game requires a lot of skill in multiplication, addition and division. This helps me understand converting dirhams to pesos. I had so much fun multiplying, adding, and converting. To prepare for winter season, people starts planting trees and flowering plants that makes the surrounding beautiful. They use loam soil because it is the perfect soil for planting. It has many nutrients and minerals. Soil is the thin layer of loose materials that covers most of earth's land but in U.A.E. sand is almost everywhere! Loam has this four ingredient:
I am measuring density by observing the buoyancy of the objects. I am guessing if it will float or sink and it was fun! Density is a measure of the amount of matter in a certain amount of space. You can study the density of an object by observing how it floats in a liquid or gas and that property is called buoyancy. In my experiment only the rubber band sink because it has more density than water. While the lid, marker, small and big ball have low density so they all float. |
