![]() Swifer Chapter 1 Once upon a time there was a family in Manila waiting for the birth of their son. After 9 months, May 1 to be exact, their child was born. He was named Swifer. After a few days his mother died because she was profusely bleeding. The reason she bled was because her tummy was opened in half because Swifer was too big to be normally delivered. Then after his mother’s death he grew to a height taller than a mountain. Swifer’s Job A few years after his mother’s death, he grew to be a lifeguard for his father in the river. Swifer calmed the wild river by putting his hand on the falls. Every time his father went to swim he would have to calm the river first before his father went to swim. But a bad thing happened while Swifer and his father were swimming. A bunch of Spaniards kidnapped his father while Swifer was taken to a cage. Swifer’s father later became the slave for the king of Spain. Swifer was so furious that he escaped from his metal cage and put all the Spaniards to the rivers. Those Spaniards were never heard from again. After that incident he quickly signed up as a lifeguard but he took it to an EXTREME JOB. He was sent to the middle of the Pacific Ocean!!! He saved many people every day in replacement for his father. He did a good job because he could swim 900,000,000 million miles per second. He could hear disasters from a very long range, he could see in very far range and he could adjust his sight, he could survive a hurricane or any other storm and lived for hundreds of years. Swifer meets Ferdinand Magellan In 1519, a month after the incident, Ferdinand Magellan sailed from Spain to the Pacific Ocean. After a few weeks, Ferdinand met Swifer! Do you remember what happened to Swifer’s father? His father was kidnapped by Spaniards. On to the great meeting. They had looked to each other for hours on different meanings. Swifer was looking to Ferdinand and Ferdinand’s crew because He was angry at them because they were serving the king of Spain though Ferdinand wasn’t a Spaniard but a Portuguese man. Ferdinand was looking to Swifer because of Swifer’s gigantic size and muscles. He was also afraid because he heard from other sailors that there was a giant In the sea but now he was looking face to face to this giant. Then Swifer began the fight between him and Ferdinand and his crew. This fight lasted only 30 minutes because all the time Swifer was just sitting. Ferdinand’s guns and cannons are no match for Swifer’s muscles and size. That’s why Ferdinand Magellan didn’t conquer the Philippines. Chapter 2 The Survivor The survivors fled back to the sea and went to the Moluccas loaded with 26 tons of cloves and other spices on their ship. Then they headed back to Spain with full of lies. They said to the king that those cloves and other spices were from the Philippines The terrible attack of the Spaniards This lead to a terrible attack by the Spanish to the Philippines. They tortured the natives and killed what they need to kill or want to. Then this news reached Swifer. When he heard this he swam right away to the Philippines. The Spaniards was so scared that they fled back to the place where Swifer sat but they didn't know. While they were heading their way home thinking they were safe, Swifer swam right in front of them and made a whirlpool by putting his arm to the ocean and did a circular motion. The whirlpool grab hold of the Spanish ships and made them go down to the bottom of the sea and later sent to the famous locker of Davy Jones. The return of Swifer’s father Later on, Spain was a wreck because many men was lost and there were less people doing the work. There were less farms after the attack. Then Spain started to sell slaves to other countries. Later this news reached Philippines then to Swifer! Do you know what that means? That Swifer could buy his own father! Then he swam quickly as he could then asked how much is his father then the seller said that his father was 1,000,000,000 POUNDS!!! Then he swam to his huge house then he got his bag with 10,000,000,000,000 gold then rushed to the store and bought his dad. Yaay. Then he lived happily ever after. The End! I learned how to bake cake with the help of my mom! Now I can do it by myself ( for your own safety kids don't bake on your own). I baked this cake for Tita Lala and she liked it. She is a friend of my mom from our church. This is my very first time to bake a cake alone and it was really fun mixing, beating, and putting all the ingredients together. This will really help me when I grow up and have a party of my own. I can bake my cake and share it with my friends. So kids it is really helpful to your mom if you cook or even take out the trash. Because when you grow up it will help you also. It may look easy but if you do it... it's hard at first and will become easy as you do it repeatedly. That is all for today. Bye! ![]() Happy Birthday Tita Lala! Love, Josiah subject : Language (verbs), Reading (Giving simple directions), HELE, Portfolio Gr 5 Q2
![]() This picture show how the Spanish treat the Filipinos in Spanish Rule. You know how they rudely treat them? They make the Filipinos work so hard for the Spanish but not for their country. So the Filipinos are striving to get money and other needs while the Spanish have their money more. These are the two crops grown by the Filipinos but sold by the Spanish. Rude right? So the brave Filipinos such as Jose Rizal and other freedom fighters fought for their country. So how actually did the Filipinos defeat the Spanish. They fought with the sword and also the pen. Really a pen could save the country?! Yes it could. Because Jose Rizal wrote to the king in Spain how Spanish soldiers treat the Filipinos. Yay! We won. subject: Civics, Portfolio Gr 5 Q2

IntroductionWe usually see our fathers watching weather forecasts or news because we want to know what will happen tonight or warning like in Hawaii. Maybe Hawaiians always watch or listen to news because there could be tsunami in the night or morning. But how do weather forecasters know the weather? They use tools like Anemometer, rain gauge, and barometer. But they also use other weather tools. So that will be our lesson today and we will learn about the three tools to measure the weather. Anemometer![]() Anemometers are used to measure wind for tsunamis and very helpful for the Hawaiians Rain Guage![]() Rain Gauges are used to measure the amount of rain falling and very helpful for Filipinos because if there are too much rain they will be warned. Barometer![]() A barometer is used to measure the water in the sky this helpful to every country. subject: Science, Portfolio Gr 5 Q2
![]() The Laws of Moses guide the Israelites what not to do and what to do. So there will be no chaos in the land that God is giving them. But Moses didn't create these laws but God created it. For forty days Moses stayed at the mountain to receive the commandments, but in the first time he went down the people was worshiping other god not God (the golden calf). So Moses burned with anger told the Levites to take out their swords and go to the camp and kill all those who had disobeyed the Lord. That moment they learned that disobedience brings death. Now I have read that whole book of Deuteronomy and my favorite chapter is chapter 9 because this is the chapter that shows that we must obey the Lord forever because obeying the Lord brings blessings. For it is his commandment and it is the most important. Why should we obey God because we will be easily swayed by the enemy which is not other people but satan. We will be hard to sway because we love God but if you don't love God you will be easily swayed because why will you stay with someone who you don't love. Everyday in the morning me and my mom read one chapter. This helps us grow our faith in God and our relationship as mom and son. So reading together has many benefits. By the way this is the second book that we read now we are reading our third book together, Ecclesiastes. My experience is that if you obey God's commandments you will have a good life but still it will not save your soul so don't think that if you do many good deeds you will be saved. No! Because you will leave everything here on earth! That's a warning. So these rules are just going to help you but if you feel bounded to it.. it is not true. These commandments are rules and makes everything in place in our life even games have rules and without rules everything will be boring and chaotic so we need rules. Rules straighten you up but if you don't believe it yet then read Deuteronomy! subject : Bible (Moses and the Law), Portfolio Gr 5 Q1
